This article tries to address few of the techniques which should be followed by the punting community. This comes on a backdrop of problems and confusions by the fans of this sport. This is commonly seen on day to day basis by most of us, hence this article describes few of the commonly followed practises in betting strategies and patterns. This article deals with three primary aspects of this sport.

1)When you are betting on horse racing you should always set aside a minimum amount of money to be waged by you for your betting on day to day basis which is known as budget.
2)The next stage involves a set of preplanned rules and ascertain your confidence level on which these budgets will be rolled out which is investment.Every punter should have a preplanned design of the quantum of budget apportioned by him for his betting needs. On a day to day basis,if the budget designed per day is exhausted he should stop for the day and instead design a fresh budget for tomorrow.By exceeding the daily budget in terms of spend, the punting community will be heading for untold losses which is not desired on days which are negative.
3)The betting size should be the same as whats planned at home after studying the card. under no circumstances the betting size should vary from race to race. Thus having patience and broader outlook of happenings on that particular day's races as a thumb rule strategy.
4)In case you lose in the first two races or all three races as the phase may be, just walk away from the tote or the location in which the betting is happening. This will avoid going into financial strain not designed for the day.Chasing losses to recover will lead to further negatives.
5)Never increase your bet size after winning several bets in a row.It is suggested that in case you win the first two bets, stop further investment and go home. This is because racing as a sport will always lure you to invest further. So avoid coming into negativity after seeing success in the first two races. It is healthy procedure to take the winning amount home instead of further wagering.
6)Chasing or increasing the size of the bet based on your last bet is not recommended.

Sustainable development goals deals with two aspects.

A) Aspects surrounding horses.
B) Aspects surrounding betting which is tote betting or bookie betting as the case may be.

1)First and foremost knowledge to be acquired on continual basis is to have a thorough knowledge surrounding the horses.
2)Horses are given various forms of trackworks which is basically divided into inner grass, outer grass, gate practise and mock races.Depending upon the condition of the horse these trackworks are given to horses and may differ from horse to horse.
3)An important point which should be noted by the punting community is that the centres like kolkata and delhi give trackworks of 400 / 200 metres while bangalore , bombay and mysore etc give 600 metres.
4)The hyderabad centre however give 600 metres track but the timing procedures are not in tune with other three 600 metres tracks. The punting community should be very clear on the different track works irrespective of the distance and timings.
5)One should know what is penetrometer and How does it play a significant role in the outcome of different races planned for the day.
6)Importance of false rails and how it plays a role in the outcome of the races.A punter should also have the knowledge of different equipments used.
7)The punter very importantly should have the basic knowledge of illness and injuries which the horses have gone through. Most common example is breaking of blood vessels.

1)Book makers odds will be based on what they expect the general public to play.
2)This leaves smart punters to find great value opportunities where the general public opinion is plain wrong
3)Keep in mind that bookies win because they don't gamble.
4)Punter and the bookmaker are the same when considering a single transaction, but multiply the premise by hundreds and the bookie is not gambling, he is simply balancing the books.
5)Punter pays the money first which means they are exposed in terms of risk when a mishap happen in racing.
Ex : Breakdown, Slowly away from starting gate, Dropping the rider, Null and void etc...

You will need to know a few things before wagering :
1)You will have to buy the daily racing form.
2)Make a note of in form horses, jockeys and trainers this season.
3)Notice how jockeys and trainers pair up. Some trainers will use a certain jockey when they have promising runners.
4)Figure out how the track is playing. You need to watch the early races if a pattern is developing in races.
5)Check out the track workouts, a very fast workout may indicate that horse is coming into form and a slow workout can be sign of trouble.
6)Avoid betting on a Favourite horse that has just moved up in class.
7)When the track is heavy and slow, give preference to front runners.
8)Don't bet on money favourites.
9)Give an extra point to an experienced jockey on longer distance races. A jockey's ability assumes greater importance as the distance increases.
10)You must be selective when choosing the races to bet. You will not be successful if you bet on every possible race.
11)Never bet on a horse which is returning to the track after a long lay off. Horses that are significantly laid off, tend to not perform to their standards because they need a race to get back on track.
12)Notice the change in equipment of a horse. For example Blinker's are designed to sharpen the horse's focus.
13)Try to keep records of your betting.

Well that wraps up my views. I'd like to close by thanking you for reading.
